Our Story

Rescuing a simple farm Percheron opened our eyes to something profoundly disquieting.

Draft horses — often overlooked in favor of sleek show horses or family pets — are among the most noble, gentle, and underappreciated animals. Their immense size can be intimidating, but for centuries, we have relied on them without hesitation: to fight our wars, plow our fields, and shoulder our burdens. Yet despite their unwavering service, these gentle giants rarely receive the admiration or compassion they deserve.

The saddest fate for any animal who has dedicated its life to serving humans is to be discarded — shipped off in heinous conditions to an undeserved, anonymous death.

“This one isn’t just any old horse. There’s a nobility in his eye, a regal serenity about him. Does he not personify all that men try to be and never can be? I tell you, my friend, there’s divinity in a horse, and specially in a horse like this... To find a horse like this in the middle of this filthy abomination of a war, is for me like finding a butterfly on a dung heap. We don’t belong in the same universe as a creature like this.”
— Michael Morpurgo, War Horse

That quote speaks to exactly what we felt — that in the eye of a rescued draft horse, there is a quiet, noble strength that reminds us of everything good we strive to be. And it is this feeling that drives our mission: to honor, protect, and give back to these extraordinary animals who have given us their everything.
